Signs and signals that your loved one may need Memory Care. When could it be time?’

All the questions you ask yourself seem to become more profound, as the signs and signals of a loved one present themselves. When you have a friend, family member or spouse that is starting to need Memory Care support it is important to ask yourself when it could be time for us to make a move to accommodate their needs. Here are some of the signs to look for.

  • They’re not paying their own bills independently.
  • They are neglecting their personal hygiene and housekeeping needs.
  • They become unsafe in their current home.

Example: Forgetting that they may have left the stove on.

  • They no longer take good care of their health.
  • They lose track of the present/current time.
  • They withdraw from hobbies and social situations they usually took an interest in.
  • You worry about your own safety and their safety when left alone.
  • Caregiving has taken a mental and physical toll on you.
  • They start to wander to places “looking for something or someone.”

If you or your loved one has experienced any of these signs and would like to speak to someone about it, please reach out to our expert Dementia/Alzheimer’s team member Selena Sanchez or Bart McFall. Our dedicated team will support you with understanding the signs and accommodations your loved one may need to feel safe and live abundantly. It’s important to note that every journey with Dementia/Alzheimer’s is different, and not one size fits all. Through this journey it is recommended that you find grace, patience and a supportive team to help navigate this process. You are not alone.
